Getting Started
How do I use the mala counter?
Open a mantra from the library and tap Start Chanting. Each tap on the mala bead advances the counter by one. You'll feel a gentle haptic tap on each bead. After 108 beads (one full round), the app records the round and you can continue to the next. Your session is saved automatically when you stop.
How do I browse and find mantras?
Tap the Library tab to see all 11 mantra groups displayed in a visual grid. Tap any group to see the mantras within it. You can also use the search bar at the top to find a specific mantra by name, deity, or keyword. Each mantra card shows the Sanskrit text, transliteration, and a brief description.
How do I favorite a mantra?
Open any mantra and tap the heart icon to add it to your favorites. Favorited mantras appear in a dedicated Favorites section for quick access, so you can start your daily practice without browsing the full library each time.

Can I change the bead count from 108?
Yes. While 108 is the traditional count for a full mala round, you can adjust the bead count per round in the chanting settings. This is useful if you follow a practice that uses 27 or 54 beads, or if you want to set a custom count for a specific mantra.
How does haptic feedback work?
Each time you tap a bead, the app triggers a subtle haptic vibration through the iPhone's Taptic Engine. This provides a tactile confirmation of each count without needing to look at the screen — similar to the physical sensation of moving beads on a traditional mala. You can disable haptics in the app settings if you prefer silent counting.
How are sessions tracked?
Every chanting session is automatically saved when you finish or pause. The app records which mantra you chanted, how many rounds you completed, the total bead count, and the session duration. You can view your complete session history in the Journey tab, sorted by date.
Library
What are the 11 mantra groups?
The 132 mantras are organized into 11 thematic groups: Popular (daily essentials), Navagraha (nine planetary deities), Gayatri (Gayatri mantras for various deities), Nakshatra (lunar mansion mantras), Beej (seed syllable mantras), Jyotirlinga (twelve Shiva shrines), Dashavatara (ten avatars of Vishnu), Wealth (prosperity and abundance), Success (achievement and overcoming obstacles), and Ashta Murti (eight forms of Shiva).
How do I search for a specific mantra?
Use the search bar at the top of the Library tab. You can search by mantra name (e.g., "Gayatri"), deity name (e.g., "Ganesh"), or keyword (e.g., "prosperity"). Results update as you type, showing matching mantras across all groups.
Can I add my own mantras?
Yes. You can add custom mantras with Sanskrit text, transliteration, and English translation. This lets you expand your collection beyond the built-in 132 mantras to include chants specific to your personal practice or lineage.
Meditation
How does the meditation timer work?
Go to the Meditation tab and set your desired duration using the presets (5, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes) or enter a custom time. Tap Start to begin. The timer runs in the background and a gentle bell sounds when your session is complete. The session is recorded in your journey history.
What ambient sounds are available?
The meditation timer includes a selection of ambient sounds to create a peaceful atmosphere — such as gentle rain, flowing water, temple bells, and nature sounds. Choose one before starting your session, or meditate in silence. Volume can be adjusted independently.
What are bell intervals?
Bell intervals play a soft chime at regular intervals during your meditation (e.g., every 5 minutes). This helps you stay aware of passing time without needing to open your eyes or check the screen. You can enable or disable intervals and choose the frequency in the timer settings.
