Income and Tax
Distribution-class intelligence, lot-level accounting, and an income forecast that prices each dollar the way the IRS will.
Covered-call distribution estimates
Covered-call and option income funds often pay out more than they earn, and the difference is return of capital rather than income. Where Compounder HQ carries a tax split for a fund, it estimates how each distribution divides between qualified, ordinary, return of capital and Section 1256 components, and applies the return of capital to your cost basis at the lot level.
These are estimates and coverage varies by fund. The funds we carry a split for are listed here, along with the ones we track without one, which are counted as ordinary income until we add a policy. A Section 19(a)-1 notice reports a fund's book basis estimate, not its final tax character, and the two can differ substantially. Your 1099-DIV is the authority; enter it in the app and every estimate for that fund reconciles to your numbers.
After-Tax Income Forecast
Per-month, per-account, per-residency projection. Section 1256 auto-computed 60/40. ROC zero-rated. REIT income reflects the Section 199A qualified business income deduction. Tax-advantaged shelter applied. US withholding shown separately for international users with Foreign Tax Credit offset.
Dividend Calendar with S19a-1 chips
365-day forward dividend calendar. Covered-call ETF rows show inline distribution-class chips (qualified / ordinary / ROC / ยง1256). Tap through to the position with the live notice breakdown.
Specific-lot tax accounting
Every Buy creates a TaxLot. Sells consume lots by your chosen method (FIFO, LIFO, min-tax, max-tax, average). Live preview shows long-term vs short-term split, estimated tax, and after-tax proceeds before you commit.
Per-account returns & day-by-day ROC
Every account gets its own money-weighted annualized return. Return of capital from ยง19(a)-1 funds adjusts your cost basis day-by-day.
Smarter cash tracking
Your cash balance updates automatically from buys, sells, and dividends, reflecting every dividend you've received without opening each holding, shown net of estimated tax on the pay date, plus first-class deposits and withdrawals per account.
Income Goal & FIRE Date
Year-by-year projection up to 60 years. Dividend growth plus contributions. See exactly which year your portfolio crosses your annual income target.
Withdrawal sequencing
Tax-aware drawdown order across accounts. Pulls dividends first, then long-term gains, then short-term, weighted by account wrapper to estimate the lifetime tax impact of each order. Tax Center shows realised-gain information at year-end.
Monthly ledger & statement PDF
A chronological account ledger, exportable statement PDF, and a Form 8949-style realized-gains export for tax season.
Scores and Analysis
Quality-gated scoring, valuation, and the reads that separate a durable income vehicle from a yield trap.
The Compounder Score
Your 0-10 Compounder Score is the umbrella over three independent lenses, Income, Growth, and Value: anchored by a Quality gate on returns-on-capital and leverage. A name only tops the scale when a strong lens sits on a genuinely high-quality business. Drill into every lens, per holding.
Compounder Rank
Composite 0-100 rank weighing fundamentals, dividend safety, the Chowder Rule, and consecutive raise streak. Compare 2-4 stocks side-by-side. Aristocrat tier per stock. Helps you choose between compounders, not just track them.
Covered-call ETF income scoring
JEPI, JEPQ, QQQI, SPYI… get more than a headline yield. A dedicated income-ETF score weighs distribution coverage, payout consistency, and whether NAV is being preserved, so you can tell a durable income vehicle from a yield trap.
Wide income-ETF coverage
Around 135 income funds: the full YieldMax and REX single-stock lineups plus GraniteShares, Roundhill, Kurv and more, with a “funded by income or eroding principal?” verdict and look-through to the single names you really own.
Decision Path, Fair Value & Fundamental Health
Every stock page reads as a decision funnel: business quality, price vs. value, timing, anchored by a two-stage DCF estimate with bear/base/bull cases, Piotroski F-Score and Altman Z-Score from real SEC-filed balance sheets.
Signal Zones Beta
A deterministic engine fuses the signals the app already computes, dividend safety, quality, valuation, momentum, drawdown, into a single zone read per name with a confidence level and a plain-English rationale you can inspect signal by signal. Updated around the clock server-side, with an opt-in push when a name changes zone. Informational signals, not buy or sell recommendations.
Sharper risk reads
Dividend cut-risk reads through acquisition-accounting distortion using server-computed cash-flow analysis, and the Act tab’s rebalance and drift tools follow your global account filter: so what you see always matches the accounts you selected.
13F guru ownership
See which of 20 tracked investors (Buffett, Ackman, Yacktman, Gayner, Russo…) own each stock, sourced from SEC 13F filings, plus a Guru Consensus screen that ranks which names the gurus crowd into.
Lens-aware screener & watchlist
Screen by Quality tier, Value, or Growth lens with a one-tap “Quality + Cheap” preset, and switch your watchlist into a lens heat-map that colors every holding by its quality and verdict.
Portfolio X-Ray
Decompose ETF holdings into underlying exposures. See "AAPL = direct + via SPY + via VTI + via QQQ" with per-source breakdown. Catches concentration risk hidden behind an ETF wrapper.
Real performance analytics
Time-weighted return, per-holding contribution to your gains, and portfolio risk, volatility, Sharpe, max drawdown, and beta, with a benchmark comparison against SPY, QQQ, SCHD, and VTI.
Watchlist + What-If simulator
Score every watchlisted stock with the same Compounder Rank as your holdings. The What-If simulator estimates gross + after-tax annual income from any "buy X shares of Y" decision before you place the trade.
Targets & drift, with a plan
Set a target weight for any holding and see whole-portfolio drift with concrete rebalancing guidance: current vs. target shares and exactly how many to buy or sell, with the approximate dollar amount. Even names you've targeted but don't yet own show up.
Technical read on every stock
RSI, MACD, momentum, trend and distance from the 52-week high on one panel, so the timing picture sits beside the income and quality math instead of in another app. Information only, never a signal to trade.
Wall Street analyst view
Analyst price targets and Buy/Hold/Sell consensus for every stock, always presented as third-party estimates from the publishing firms rather than as CompounderHQ's own view.
Accounts and Residency
Real accounts, real wrappers, real treaty math. Built for investors who hold US-listed securities from anywhere.
Multi-account, first-class
Your taxable brokerage, Trad IRA, Roth, 401(k), HSA, plus 19 international tax wrappers modeled (NISA, iDeCo, ISA, SIPP, SRS, MPF, IRP, NPS, PPF…): real entities, not labels. Specific-lot tax accounting on every position with FIFO, LIFO, min-tax, max-tax, and average-cost methods.
Multi-account architecture
Add unlimited accounts. Each position's tax wrapper is set per-position, not per-account, mirrors how Rakuten/IBKR actually work with mixed NISA + ็นๅฎ holdings under one brokerage.
Forward after-tax income, per residency
Project the next 12 months of dividends after federal, state-equivalent, and treaty withholding tax for 9 supported residencies. Foreign Tax Credit modelled. Tax-advantaged accounts shelter domestic tax only: US withholding still applies to the income portion of each distribution, and the app shows you that line.
Multi-residency tax engine
9 residencies covered: US (per-class), Japan, UK, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Other. Treaty withholding rates baked in. NISA / ISA / SIPP / NPS shelters honored for domestic tax only.
CSV import: 7 brokers, 11 formats
Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, IBKR, SBI่จผๅธ, ๆฅฝๅคฉ่จผๅธ, and ใใใใฏใน่จผๅธ, across 11 CSV formats including a generic fallback. Three-layer validator catches bad rows before they hit your portfolio. Reconcile mode treats re-imports as deltas, not duplicates.
Fix any entry
Mis-typed a buy or sell? Tap it to edit or delete, your shares, cost basis, realized gains, cash, and taxes all recompute automatically. No workarounds, no phantom trades.
Alerts and Data
Server-monitored pushes that work with the app closed, plus news and catalysts filtered to what you own and watch.
Local & push alerts
Ex-dividend reminders 2 days before, earnings 1 day before, plus on-device metric-threshold checks, battery-friendly via BGAppRefresh. Opt-in server-push alerts for hard pre-market moves and opening gaps reach you even when the app is closed.
Metric alerts & price-gap push
Set a threshold on yield, P/E, RSI, F-Score or Compounder Score and get one notification per crossing. Opt-in push covers hard pre-market moves and opening gaps even when the app is closed.
Intraday price-move alerts
Opt-in push when a held or watched name makes a sharp intraday move: not just at the open or close. Server-monitored, so it works with the app closed, and capped so a volatile day never floods your lock screen.
While you were away
Alerts opens with a short digest of what actually moved in your holdings and watchlist since your last visit, and every line is tied to its reason: a score move, a signal-zone change, a corporate action, or a distribution. No streaks, no engagement nudges, nothing that is not a real change.
News tab: 11 signal kinds
Earnings, dividends, splits, ratings, insider activity, analyst targets, and more, filtered to your holdings and watchlist. Cached for snappy scrolling.
Catalysts
Surface recent spin-offs, mergers, splits, and special dividends across the market, not just in the names you already hold, so a corporate action never slips past your radar.
