      Important: Horizon Campus Compass is an educational guidance tool. It is not a substitute for professional admissions counseling, immigration advice, or career counseling. All data, rankings, scores, and recommendations are provided for informational purposes only.
    

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Horizon Campus Compass ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is developed and maintained by MARS Studio.

2. Purpose & Scope

Horizon Campus Compass provides educational guidance tools to help students research universities, compare programs, track applications, and explore career paths. The App is designed as a research and planning aid and does not provide professional admissions consulting, legal advice, or guaranteed outcomes of any kind.

3. University Data & Rankings

University information displayed in the App is sourced from publicly available databases and ranking organizations:

College Scorecard (U.S. Department of Education): admission rates, costs, enrollment, and outcomes data
QS World University Rankings: global university rankings
Times Higher Education (THE): world university rankings
US News & World Report: national and global rankings
NIRF (India): National Institutional Ranking Framework
HESA (UK): Higher Education Statistics Agency data
TEQSA (Australia): Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency data

Data from these sources may be 1-2 years behind the current academic year. Rankings from different organizations use different methodologies and are not directly comparable. MARS Studio does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any third-party data.

4. Score Matching & Admission Guidance

The App classifies universities as Safety, Match, or Reach based on your academic profile and historical admission data. This classification is approximate guidance only:

Actual admission decisions depend on many factors beyond test scores and GPA, including essays, recommendations, extracurricular activities, demonstrated interest, and institutional priorities
A "Safety" classification does not guarantee admission
A "Reach" classification does not mean admission is impossible
Admission rates and score ranges change from year to year

5. Smart Recommendation Algorithm

The Smart Recommendation feature uses a data-driven scoring system (up to 110 points) that considers academic fit, financial factors, career outcomes, and location preferences. This algorithm provides guidance to help narrow your search; it is not a prediction of admission likelihood or a guarantee of any outcome. You should always conduct your own research and consult with school counselors or admissions professionals.

6. AI Impact Assessments

AI impact assessments and career disruption scores displayed in the App are editorial opinions based on publicly available research and industry trends. They are not predictions of future labor market conditions. Career landscapes change rapidly, and these assessments should be considered as one of many inputs in your decision-making process.

7. Scholarship Information

Scholarship data in the App is curated from official university and organization sources. However:

Scholarship availability, deadlines, and eligibility criteria change frequently
Always verify scholarship details directly with the awarding institution before applying
The App does not submit scholarship applications on your behalf
Inclusion of a scholarship does not imply endorsement or guarantee of eligibility

8. OCR & Document Scanning

The App includes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) functionality for scanning offer letters and documents using Apple's Vision framework. OCR extraction may contain errors, particularly with handwritten text, poor image quality, or unusual document layouts. You must review and confirm all extracted data before relying on it for any purpose.

9. Visa & Immigration Scoring

Visa scoring and immigration guidance provided in the App are general informational summaries based on publicly available immigration policies. This information is not legal advice:

Immigration rules change frequently and vary by country, visa category, and individual circumstances
The App does not replace consultation with a qualified immigration lawyer
Visa approval depends on factors beyond the scope of any scoring system
Always consult official government immigration websites and qualified legal professionals for specific guidance

10. Career & Salary Data

Career salary and employment data is sourced from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and O*NET. This data is typically 1-2 years behind current market conditions. Actual salaries vary significantly based on location, experience, industry, employer, and economic conditions. The App does not guarantee any employment or salary outcomes.

11. No Guarantee of Outcomes

MARS Studio makes no guarantee, express or implied, regarding:

Admission to any university or program
Receipt of any scholarship or financial aid
Employment or salary outcomes after graduation
Visa approval or immigration status
Accuracy of any third-party data displayed in the App

12. Subscription Terms

If the App offers premium features via in-app subscription:

Payment is processed through Apple's App Store and subject to Apple's terms
Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings
No refunds for partial subscription periods, except as required by applicable law

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MARS Studio and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. This includes but is not limited to damages for lost opportunities, admission rejections, inaccurate data, or reliance on any information provided by the App. Your use of the App is at your sole risk.

14. Intellectual Property

Horizon Campus Compass, its design, code, and original content are the intellectual property of MARS Studio. Third-party data (rankings, statistics, career data) remains the property of their respective owners and is displayed under fair use for educational reference.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App and all content, data, and features it provides, including university data, rankings, classifications, recommendations, scholarship information, visa guidance, and career data, are supplied "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free availability. Third-party data may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, and the App or its data services may be interrupted, degraded, or discontinued at any time. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you; in that case any implied warranty is limited to the minimum scope and duration permitted by applicable law.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless MARS Studio and its founders, developers, and affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the App.

17. Changes to These Terms

MARS Studio reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

18. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, where MARS Studio is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in this clause deprives you of any mandatory consumer protections of the law of the country in which you reside. Before pursuing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at hcc-support@marsstudio.app and allow 30 days for us to attempt to resolve the issue informally.

19. Severability

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
