Profile & Score Matching

How do I set up my student profile?
Go to the Profile tab and enter your academic details. Start by selecting your curriculum type (e.g., CBSE, ICSE, IB, A-Levels, US High School, or other). Then enter your grades or GPA, standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, etc.), and extracurricular activities. The more complete your profile, the more accurate your Safety/Match/Reach classifications will be.
How does Safety / Match / Reach classification work?
The App compares your academic profile (grades and test scores) against historical admission data for each university. Universities are classified as:

Safety: Your scores are well above the university's typical admitted student profile. You have a strong chance of admission.

Match: Your scores fall within the university's typical admitted range. Admission is competitive but realistic.

Reach: Your scores are below the university's typical admitted range. Admission is possible but less likely based on scores alone.

Note: This classification is approximate. Actual admission depends on many factors including essays, recommendations, extracurriculars, and institutional priorities. Always build a balanced list with universities across all three categories.

University Lists & Recommendations

How do I add universities to my list?
Browse universities in the Explore tab using search or filters (by country, ranking, program, or cost). Tap on any university to view its detailed profile. Use the Add to List button to save it to your personal university list. You can organize universities by application status (Planning, Applied, Accepted, Rejected) and view your Safety/Match/Reach distribution at a glance.
How does Smart Recommendation work?
Smart Recommendation uses a 110-point scoring system that evaluates universities across multiple dimensions:

Academic Fit — How well your profile matches the university's admission standards
Financial Factors — Tuition costs, financial aid availability, and scholarship opportunities
Career Outcomes — Graduate employment rates, median salaries, and industry connections
Location Preferences — Your preferred countries, cities, and campus settings
Program Strength — Department-specific rankings and research output

The algorithm combines these factors to generate a personalized ranked list of recommended universities. It is guidance to help narrow your search — not a prediction of admission likelihood.

Documents & Scanning

How do I scan an offer letter?
Go to the Documents section and tap Scan Offer Letter. You can either take a photo using your camera or select an existing image from your photo library. The App uses Apple's Vision framework to perform OCR entirely on your device — no data is sent to any server. After scanning, review the extracted text and confirm or edit the details (university name, program, tuition, scholarship amount, deadlines). The scanned offer is saved locally for your reference.

Visa & Immigration

How does visa scoring work?
The visa scoring feature provides a general overview of student visa requirements and post-study work options for different countries. It considers factors such as:

Visa processing complexity — Required documents, processing time, and financial proof requirements
Post-study work rights — Duration and conditions of post-graduation work permits
Path to residency — General availability of permanent residency pathways for graduates

Important: Visa scoring is general guidance only. Immigration rules change frequently and vary by individual circumstances. Always consult official government immigration websites and a qualified immigration lawyer for advice specific to your situation.

What-If Scenarios

How do I use What-If Scenario?
The What-If Scenario tool lets you simulate how changes to your academic profile would affect your university fit. You can adjust your test scores, GPA, or add additional qualifications and instantly see how your Safety/Match/Reach classifications change across all saved universities. This helps you understand which score improvements would have the most impact on your options and whether retaking a test is worth the effort. Changes made in What-If mode do not affect your actual profile.

Troubleshooting

University data is not loading
University data is fetched from public APIs (College Scorecard, BLS, O*NET). If data is not loading:

1. Check your internet connection — the App needs an active connection to fetch university and career data.
2. Try again in a few minutes — public APIs occasionally experience temporary outages.
3. Force-close the App and reopen it.
4. If the issue persists for more than an hour, contact support — the API endpoint may have changed.
I see duplicate universities in my list
Duplicates can occur if a university appears under slightly different names in different data sources. To remove a duplicate, swipe left on the entry in your university list and tap Delete. If you notice consistent duplicates for specific universities, please report them to us so we can improve our data matching.
My profile changes are not saving
Profile data is saved automatically when you navigate away from the profile editor. If changes are not persisting:

1. Make sure you are not force-closing the App immediately after making changes — wait a moment for the save to complete.
2. Check that your device has sufficient storage space.
3. Try restarting the App.
4. If the issue persists, try deleting and reinstalling the App (note: this will erase all local data).
